In the 1900s, jazz musicians like Red McKenzie used to use tissue paper to play the comb.  Today, it is much more common for us to use it for gifts, but its versatility is certainly as apparent today as it was over a century ago.  There is a wide variety of uses for this wrapping material, and today?s consumers can opt for paper made from recycled materials, which will appeal to a lot of your gift recipients.  One of the most common uses for gift wrap tissue paper is to decorate and cover items in gift bags or to wrap clothing in gift boxes, but there are a number of other very practical uses.  Here are just a few ways you can make the most out of tissue, as well as those little scraps we all have lying around.

? Tissue paper flowers.  These small blooms are wonderful, and you don?t have to be Martha Stewart to make them.  Simply crumple up some tissue and experiment.  You can use these as decorations for your home, adornments for gifts, or as a craft project for children. 
? Cards.  Why send boring greeting cards?  Homemade cards are usually much more appreciated, and with tissue paper, they can be much more beautiful.  Crumple up some tissue, smooth it out, and glue it to your card or a piece of thick paper.  You can make layers, mosaics, and much more very easily and quickly.  People will wonder where you bought such a great card.
? Vases.  This is a great use for both old jars and old bits and pieces of tissue paper lying around from Christmas or your birthday.  Tear the paper into small pieces ? but not too small.  They don?t have to be symmetric.  In fact, they shouldn?t be.  Then, paint watered-down glue onto your jar and place the bits of paper on it, overlapping them.  This creates a stained glass type of look and turns a plain old jar into a nice vase for flowers.
? Confetti.  Many people shred their tissue wrapping paper and use the resulting strands as fun confetti for parties and gifts. 
? If you have some really rough-looking wrapping tissue, don?t throw it out just yet.  Ball it up and put it into leather shoes to help them keep their shape.  Why not?  Tissue paper can be practical as well as beautiful!
? When all else fails, and you?re out of ideas for tissue paper, hand it over to the experts.  Kids will have a blast creating crafts and unique and personalized wrapping paper.
? Gifts.  This is an obvious one, but it bears mentioning because gift tissue can add a special extra touch that makes your entire package look so much more thoughtful.

When choosing your gift wrap tissue paper, look for colors you love and patterns you will use.  Think about the possibility for reusing the paper, and think about the options it will open to you.  Most of all, remember to collect this great paper after birthdays and Christmas so you have enough materials to help you create beautiful, unique wrapping all year long.
