- Plastic bags are made from resin, obtained during the distillation process of crude oil. Plastic resin is a by-product (left over) when fuels are distilled. If these by-products were not recaptured and turned into bags, they would have to be burned off in the atmosphere to get rid of the waste, thereby increasing greenhouse gas emissions. As long as the need for automobile fuels exists, resins will be available for plastic bags. This is true for domestically produced bags.
- Resin for bags made of overseas is oil resin.
- All plastic bags are 100% recyclable.
- Our Eco-Friendly line of plastic bags contain up to 25% recycled content.
- Adding the EPI additive to the Eco-Friendly brand of plastic bags will make them biodegradable in the environment within 18 months.
- Additives are made from starch based food products, requiring additional processing and energy to produce, possibly diverting food crops to industrial use.

Product which can be collected from waste and made into another product.

| Reduce: |
Use less of something, or use alternatives with less bulk to reduce the number of bags going into a landfill by 50%.

| Reuse: |
Use again, at least once. A single re-use of a bag will reduce the number of bags going into a landfill by 50%.

| Biodegradable: |
Materials capable of undergoing biological anaerobic or aerobic decomposition by the action of microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi and algae under conditions naturally occurring in the biosphere. We make bags which contain the EPI additive, which cause bags to biodegrade in the environment or in the landfill.

| Compostable: |
Materials that undergo degradation by biological process during composting to yield CO2, water, inorganic compounds and biomass at a rate consistent with other compostable materials in commercial/industrial composting conditions and leave no visible, distinguishable or toxic residue. These bags are made with PLA, which is an additive designed to make products compostable.

| Degradable: |
Materials that have the capability to break down from a whole into parts or completely break down into natural substances in the normal process of exposure to natural events. Most degradable products are either biodegradable or photodegradable. Degradable bags cannot be recycled.

| PCR: |
Post Consumer Recycled content. PCR is the product discarded by consumers after use, which is separated, then added to new resin materials to produce plastic bags. In order to retain the integrity and strength of the bags during use, no more than 25% PCR is used. A bag containing PCR material and one without is minimal or unnoticeable.

| PIR: |
Post Industrial Recycled content. PIR is generally plastic scraps and cuttings from plastic bag extrusion. Recycling eliminates any waste from ending up in a landfill.

| Shelf Life: |
Blank or printed degradable bags have a 12 to 18 month shelf life, under normal storage and temperature conditions. Storage is defined as a closed container away from sunlight.
